Salma Hayek got her start in telenovelas on Mexican television. After coming to America, she got her big break in Robert Rodriguez's 1995 movie Desperado. She's since acted in many films, including Dogma and Frida (both controversial films) and she's also produced several movies, with an interest on telling the stories of women in a male-dominated industry.
