Model Juli Foster

Juli Foster was one of the more serious high-profile fashion models of the late seventies and early eighties.

I say she was serious because photographers (fellows like Jacques Malignon and Arthur Elgort) could never get her to smile. Not even a small smile. But then, her determined expression is what makes her so beautiful.

Irving Penn got her to grin in one of his photos, but that photo is a bit too risqué for this blog.

But this one isn't.

Neither is this one.

The photo above is from the cover of Time magazine's August 30, 1982 issue, the cover story being not about Ms. Foster but about the emerging trend of muscular strength as a feminine beauty ideal. See, she is serious!

Model Kathy Davis

Body On Tap shampoo, a novelty hair-care product made with barley and hops - the same ingredients in beer - was made by Bristol-Myers in the late seventies and early eighties with the idea that such ingreidents made hair fuller and softer. The ad below certainly made that point.

This is one of the most stunning hair-care print ads ever conceived, because nothing grabs your attention like pictures of a beautiful woman letting her hair down. :-)

The beautiful woman in the ad is Kathy Davis, who became a model as a teenager in southern California and went on to model in Paris and New York.

She appeared in several other ads for hair products displaying her luxurious blonde locks, and she also did a few Cosmopolitan covers.

Today Kathy Davis is an event planner and culinary artist in Los Angeles, with a special talent for arranging decor. She's one of the most respected event coordinators in the greater Los Angeles area.

Bowden attended the now defunct Saint Thomas More School in Midland Park, New Jersey, for her grammar and middle school education. She later attended Immaculate Heart Academy in Washington Township, Bergen County, New Jersey.
Career
In 2006 she signed on in a two episode-arc on the ABC daytime soap opera television series One Life to Live as Britney. She guest starred in an episode of Law & Order: SVU. She was also in Fall Out Boy's music video for Dance, Dance.
In 2006 Katrina signed on in the NBC sitcom television series 30 Rock. She portrays the laid back, sexy assistant, Cerie Xerox. The series premiered October 11, 2006 and stars Tina Fey, Alec Baldwin and Tracy Morgan. She signed on as a series regular for the second season.
In 2008 she starred in Summit Entertainment's Sex Drive in a supporting role as "Ms. Tasty". In 2010 she guest starred in an episode of the ABC series Ugly Betty portraying Heather.
In April 2011 she was voted Esquire Magazine's Sexiest Woman Alive
Bowden will star in the upcoming Piranha 3DD.

English actress Helena Bonham Carter

Helena Bonham Carter broke through in the eighties with her role in Lucy Honeychurch in the Merchant-Ivory film A Room With a View, and she was soon cast in other "English rose" parts.

More recently, she played Queen Elizabeth (not the current queen of England, but rather, her mother) in the King George VI biopic The King's Speech, which earned her a lot of award nominations . . . and awards.

In between she played a lot of quirky roles in movies directed by her boyfriend, Tim Burton.
